Which ELLA size should I choose?
The 4mm is subtle, a good fit for an upper lobe piercing or a minimal look. The 5mm is the most versatile, clearly visible at the primary lobe without feeling bold. The 6mm gives noticeable sparkle. The 7mm makes a confident statement. If you're unsure, start with the 5mm.

Are the ELLA studs real diamonds?
No. The ELLA is set with 5A-grade cubic zirconia, a high-grade lab-created stone cut in the classic round brilliant shape.

How does 5A CZ compare to diamond?
From a normal distance, a well-cut CZ gives a bright, diamond-like look. Up close, CZ shows more rainbow fire than diamond. It's also softer, at 8 to 8.5 on the Mohs scale against diamond's 10, so it can gather fine scratches over years of wear. Stud earrings get very little rubbing, which helps the stones stay bright.

Can I wear different ELLA sizes in different piercings?
Yes. Wear a 6mm or 7mm at the primary lobe and a 4mm or 5mm in an upper lobe piercing for a graduated look. The larger stone below and the smaller one above make the ear feel composed and intentional.

Can I wear the ELLA in my helix or cartilage?
We don't recommend it. Butterfly-back studs are made for lobes. In cartilage, the butterfly can press uncomfortably and work loose. For helix, tragus or cartilage piercings, choose the Basic CZ Barbell Studs. They have the same round CZ look on a barbell with a screw-back, made for those placements.

How do I use the polishing cloth?
Use it to buff the silver setting and post gently after wearing. Don't polish the stone itself. To keep the CZ bright, keep it away from lotion and perfume, and rinse it occasionally in warm water with a drop of mild soap.

Will the ELLA studs tarnish?
Sterling silver can darken over time, and rhodium plating wears gradually with regular use, often faster in humid weather. Keep the studs away from perfume, lotion and chlorine, and store them dry in their pouch.

Can I shower or swim with the ELLA studs?
No. Take them off before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping. Water, sweat and chlorine speed up tarnishing on silver and dull the stones.

Are the ELLA studs suitable for sensitive ears?
Rhodium plating over 925 sterling silver is well tolerated by most people, because the plating sits between the silver alloy and the skin of your piercing. If your ears react easily to metals, the titanium pieces in MNML's Elements collection are the most reliable choice.
