Are the stones real gemstones?
No. Every stone is AAA cubic zirconia, a lab-created stone, in the colour of that month's birthstone. The July necklace uses ruby-coloured CZ, for example. This keeps each colour bright and consistent.

How do I choose my birthstone colour?
Choose the colour for your birth month, or for the birth month of the person you're buying for. Each month's colour, theme and affirmation are shown in the guide above and printed on the card included with the necklace.

Which birthstones does MNML use?
We follow the modern birthstone list: garnet, amethyst, aquamarine, diamond, emerald, alexandrite, ruby, peridot, sapphire, pink tourmaline, yellow topaz and blue topaz. Some months also have traditional alternatives, such as pearl for June and opal for October.

What is a bezel setting?
A bezel wraps the stone in a smooth, continuous rim of metal instead of holding it with prongs. It keeps the stone flush and protected, with nothing raised to catch on clothing. It also keeps the focus on the colour.

What does the birthstone card include?

What colour is the June stone?
The June necklace uses an alexandrite-colour CZ in a soft purple-pink. Natural alexandrite is known for shifting colour between daylight and indoor light, and this tone captures its character.

Will the necklace tarnish?
Sterling silver can darken over time, and rhodium plating wears gradually with regular use, often faster in humid weather. Keep it away from perfume, lotion and chlorine, wipe it gently after wearing, and store it dry in its box.

Can I shower or swim with the necklace?
No. Take it off before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping. Water, sweat and chlorine speed up tarnishing on silver and dull the stone.
